Janine M. Rayano, Esq.

Janine M. Rayano earned a B.A. in Political Science from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and a J.D. from Touro Law School. She was admitted to the Bar of the State of New York in 1986 and to practice before the Southern and Eastern United States District Courts in 1987. She has been a member of the Suffolk County Bar Association and New York County Bar Association.

Ms. Rayano’s legal career began as Assistant Counsel at the Waterfront Commission of New York Harbor, where she conducted investigations and administrative trials concerning violations of the Waterfront Commission Act, including matters related to organized crime, racketeering, and payroll fraud, often collaborating with agencies like the FBI, INS, and IRS.

Ms. Rayano was then appointed an Assistant Town Attorney for the Town of Smithtown, advising the Town Board, drafting and reviewing agreements, handling labor and employment matters, negotiating with unions, and advising planning, zoning, and enforcement bureaus. She was also sworn in as a Special Assistant District Attorney to enforce local ordinances and was responsible for defending and prosecuting on behalf of the Town.

She was then associated with prominent Long Island law firms where she primarily handled civil litigation matters focusing on real estate development (residential and commercial), construction, labor and employment, appeals, matrimonial, criminal defense, and estate matters for a diverse clientele including lending institutions, developers, and small businesses.

She was a Partner in Rayano & Garabedian, P.C. from December 2000 to 2016, a general practice firm with offices in Long Island, handling civil litigation, real estate, corporate not-for-profit, appeals, matrimonial, criminal defense, estate matters, and transactional work in entertainment, real estate, and zoning law.

Janine has served as an Associate Justice for the Village of Sag Harbor from July 2014 to July 2018, presiding over civil and criminal matters, arraignments, bail applications, and parking violations.

Since January 2017 Janine has been Of Counsel at Egan & Golden LLP, handling real estate, trust and estate, and transactional matters, including corporate law for both for-profit and not-for-profit entities. Janine currently acts as the firm’s assigned counsel to the  Architectural  and Historic Review Board  for the Village of Sagaponack and  Planning Board for the Village of Southampton.
