At their annual holiday event, Egan & Golden, LLP celebrated the 60th anniversary of attorney John J. Roe, III, Esq.’s admittance to the New York Bar. Known to his friends and family as ”Pete”, Mr. Roe is an alumnus of the Phillips Academy Andover and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Brown University in 1957. He earned his law degree from the University of Virginia in 1960. He has been a member of the New York Bar since 1961. During his years in practice, Mr. Roe has assisted the firm’s clients in estate planning and business and real estate matters, ranging from simple to sophisticated and complex transactions. at the December event, the Firm presented him with a custom-engraved Waterford crystal bowl to celebrate the milestone.
Mr. Roe’s practice has been located in Patchogue for over 50 years, and during that time he has organized, participated in, and led a variety of civic and charitable efforts. He was the President of the Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce from 1989-1992. He was instrumental in the development and creation of the Patchogue Business Improvement District. After its creation in 1991, he served as President for ten years. He assumed the Presidency of the organization again in 2012.
Mr. Roe is a Vice-President and Counsel for the Suffolk County Council, Inc. Boy Scouts of America. He is an Eagle Scout and received the Silver Beaver award for his service to Scouting. He is an Active Member of the Rotary Club of Bellport where he served as President, Secretary and Director for a number of years. For local history buffs, he is the ninth generation of persons named John Roe to live in the Town of Brookhaven. One of his ancestors, Austin Roe, was a spy for the Colonials in the Revolutionary War.
